Jepak by-election: Voting ends as all 14 polling centres close doors at 5.30pm


BINTULU: The polling process for the Jepak state by-election, which began at 7.30am Saturday (Nov 4), concluded when 11 out of 14 polling centres closed at 5.30pm.

Earlier, three polling centres for the by-election shut their doors at 4pm.

All ballot boxes from the 14 polling centres, involving 45 streams, will be taken to the vote-tallying centre at the Dewan Suarah Bintulu, before the official results are announced, expected at 9pm Saturday.

The EC also said that as at 4pm, voter turnout stood at 46%.

The Jepak by-election sees a three-cornered fight among Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Iskandar Turkee, Parti Bumi Kenyalang's (PBK) Stevenson Joseph Sumbang and Chieng Lea Phing from Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak (Aspirasi). – Bernama
